Electronic Motion Systems’ modules for reverse alternator systems are in response to the trend towards increased integration of electrical and mechanical functions in today's automobiles that combine a classical starter motor and electrical generator into one electrical machine. The reverse alternator module requires a more sophisticated power stage than the classical voltage regulator and diode rectifier. The power module will perform the function of current rectification in an active, rather than passive, mode, and drive the reverse alternator in the starter mode by inverting the DC power from the battery into three-phase current.
Reverse Alternator
The multi-function power stage is controlled by a controller board, which sets the different modes (motor and generator) and drives the power module accordingly. This makes additional functions like start/stop possible. The board includes multiple diagnostic and fail-safe functions, which allow for fallback strategies in case of failure.
Electronic Motion Systems can provide customized modules for both the power stage and the controller module.
