Electronic Motion Systems offers customized power modules and systems for Electric Power Steering (EPS) and Electric-Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS) systems. EPS and EHPS continue to replace the existing hydraulic power steering systems to improve fuel economy, reduce system size and weight while improving reliability. EPS/EHPS is also emerging as an enabler of four-wheel steering, a premium vehicle feature that dramatically reduces the vehicle turning radius. The power electronics modules and systems that control the EPS/EHPS motor are crucial to the implementation of EPS/EHPS and require a combination of specialized skill sets.
Electronic Motion Systems designs, tests and manufactures both the power and the control electronics of EPS and EHPS systems. With a system level approach, Electronic Motion Systems has concurrently advanced its power electronics, thermo-mechanical design, motor control and qualification process expertise to deliver highly reliable and compact systems for EPS/EHPS. Our systems are specifically designed to serve the critical EPS/EHPS function in rugged environmental conditions. Our compact product configurations allow the EPS/EHPS to be mounted onto the column, rack or pinion.

Rugged thermal design permits high temperature operation for under the hood applications and minimizes power cycling stress for high reliability. Our customized systems are designed to fit the mechanical outline of the motor design for easy assembly and reduced interconnectivity.
We have developed advanced modeling of EPS and EHPS systems and offer proprietary control algorithms, based on our advanced knowledge in phase advance algorithms and of both sensored and sensorless controls. We can support several motor types including permanent magnet, DC, and switched reluctance. The precise integration of the control and power sections of the system ensures optimum efficiency and a reduction of electromagnetic interference (EMI). Our solutions support various communication mediums including CAN, KLine, LIN along with newer types such as FlexRay.
